Scarlatti’s Quartettino.

Alessandro Scarlatti was an Italian Baroque composer, especially famous for his operas and chamber cantatas. He is considered the founder of the Neapolitan school of opera. He also wrote a small number of instrumental works–including the Quartettino written for three alto recorders and continuo. This collection of pieces begins with an Aria which is the Theme and from it Bach makes 30 different variations.  Often in this type of work the melody of the theme is what is varied.
