Farewell and welcome

We have some good news and we have some bad news.

First the bad news

Our esteemed music director, Bob Rivers, is retiring at the end of the year after 6-1/2 years as conductor.

Under his leadership we have benefited from his excellent conducting and considerable knowledge of music.  He introduced Rosewood Consort to a rich variety of music that culminated in special performances of Medieval music, Renaissance madrigals (Madrigali), a collection of suites (How Suite It Is) as well as the popular annual Christmas concert.

During his tenure, Bob also has augmented our group by bringing in a viol player and a keyboard player as permanent members, and has initiated partnering with other musical groups in the area.  The Rosewood Consort is deeply appreciative of Bob’s continued dedication to its growth and development over the years.

The good news

We have a new music director, Stéphane Potvin, who starts on January 5, 2015. He comes with over 25 years of conducting experience and a rich and varied musical background i.e. Founder & Artistic Director of Musikay, Conductor of the Duet Club of Hamilton, Chorus Master of the National Academy Choir/Brott Music Festival, Music Director of the Canadian Orpheus Male Choir and many more.
